Where are the Big Bismarck models Logs?

Recommended Posts

Before the fall of MSW, in the old world (pre-December 2012), there was a couple of gentlemen who had actually started a Build Log of the latest 1/200 Bismarck by Trumpeter.

What happened with these? Have they been discouraged by the loss of data ?

I would love to read about this fabulous model.

Yves,

You ask a question that only the log owner/builder could answer.  I wish we could help with that, but until they show up, we'll never know.

I am still looking to restart my Arizona log but in all honesty I feel so disheartened at loosing everything from the last 5 years, I can understand why some like me are holding back.

Norman,

I share your frustration and have a hard time accepting that so much knowledge and efforts disappeared completely. I hope and pray that the MSW #2 is now fully backed up on a regular basis and that the mishap that took place will never happen again.

Instead of restarting your Log, why not start a new one (with a Bismarck kit) or just place some of the beautiful pictures of your Trumpeter Arizona in the Kit Gallery? I remember reading your Blog on the Arizona and it really deserve a place in the Gallery.

So, make us all happy and post some pictures of your big marvel.

Cheers.

Yves

One of them was mine... I spent an hour putting a replacement thread together but the forum wouldn't let me post it because it had "too many pics". They were all photobucket links too?!

Anyway, I got mad and haven't tried again. Work continues on the beast though; I've made a lot of progress since my original thread was so cruely and violently taken from internet land. I'm keeping it going on another forum; it's just more work than I want to do to run multiple logs on different sites.

Channell,

I'd say "go for it"..  :)  Many of tall ship guys like the work being done on the resin/plastic ships.  I know I'm one of them.   As for picture limitations, I think it's either 5 or 10 to the post.  This had to be reset downwards as the forum software is capable of allowing practically an unlimited amount of photos per post.

And  I hope you'll reopen your Bismarck log, even if it's just an "executive summary" (pictures only :D ) to get caught up to date.

Maybe I'm just the opposite... I absolutely love to look at all things wooden and "Age of Sail" but I prefer to actually build "Steel Navy" stuff.

Anyway, MW has been having their own technical problems of late so it's a bit tempting to  "jump ship" and spend more time over here. :piratetongueor4:

I'm building in wood right now,  well not at this moment but that's what's on the table.  Even so, after visiting the Iowa BB-61 here in Los Angeles I've got the bug to build a fast battleship in plastic.  All this is to say count this as another vote for seeing modern navy in the build logs.

I got two of the BB-63 Missouri in 1/192 scale of the sterling model. They are sitting on the shelf and will still be for some time, I have also pick up a lot of the PE parts for one of them. I got one off of Ebay and pay a few bucks for it the other was from one of my club members who past away and they had an auction for the stuff he had in his shop, well I won the second one that way, not sure if I will make it into the BB-62 or just sell it on Ebay or not. Got plenty of time before I have to sit down and think about it.

Wacko

I see alot of people talking, but where are the builds?  I just bought the Revell 1/350 Bismarck w/a ton of goodies.  I opted for this scale over the 1/200th because of limited space and cost.  So in the near future, no talk, will build for all to see.............. :piratebo5:

And to give you a idea, I spent well over $300.00 on kit and all the little bits to bring it to life...........

Rick,

Those logs would be in the Kit log area.  There are a couple of rather largish vessels including subs in the Scratch area.

Started my build log yesterday - Bismarck by Dawie van Rensburg - Trumpeter - PLASTIC - Scale 1/200 Pontos Detail Up set "Advanced" upgrade kit. Obviously plastic most probably molded in China?, but will be built by myself here in sunny South Africa.

Brain, when I did my research on which ship to build, I seriously tried to get hold of the Amati model, but I just could't find any. My quest must have been driven by my wood modeling background . . . . !! Made peace with this and decided to try the plastic world of modeling - I think the availability of the Pontos Advanced upgrade kit made the difference and the challenge worth my while . . .

Dawie.

Those Trumpeter 1/200 scale models of Arizona, Bismark, and Mighty Mo are humongous! I'd love to build one of them, but cant imagine where I'd keep it, lol.

Current build: Minicraft 1/350 Titanic - aftermarket PE Brass details from Tomsmodelworks and GMM  and wood deck from Scaledecks

On The Shelf: Revell 1/96 U.S.S Constitution (1976 issued kit) - aftermarket wood deck from Scaledecks

                         Revell Germany 1/350 Battleship Bismarck

                        AL San Francisco II

Blackbeard's Queen Anne's Revenge (modified from AL HMS Endeavour Bark 1768 kit)

1:14 Capt. Quint's ORCA from JAWS (scratch-built static project from R/C Model plans)

Way in the Future: Trumpeter 1/200 Battleship U.S.S. Arizona

                                   Trumpeter 1/200 Battleship U.S.S. Missouri

Good Day Gentlemen,

I am new here but been signed up for over a year. I didn't really participate because I wasn't doing any wood ships at the time. I usually do plastic but that is about to change. I now have 3 kits but don't know which one to do first.

I am currently working on Trumpeter's 1/200 Missouri with the deluxe photo etch set. Maybe I need to post that first. What a great site this is, so full of information. I can feel the frustration about the loss of the first site since I waas a member of the sister site that lost all of their data also. It never occured to me that sites like this would not back up their data.
