By searching this forum I found out, that there has no one posted this. Mendel L. Peterson has listed and photographed historic cannons from several countries, high interesting for anyone who wants to build his warship guns correctly.

The files are too big to set them herein, just type

"Mendel L. Peterson Large green Album" in your browser, the four PDFs are the ones I mean

Gerhard,

This is some amazing information. Thanks for the link. I am especially interested in the Dutch material.

Current Built: Zeehaen 1639, Dutch Fluit from Dutch explorer Abel J. Tasman

Unofficial motto of the VOC: "God is good, but trade is better"

Many people believe that Captain J. Cook discovered Australia in 1770. They tend to forget that Dutch mariner Willem Janszoon landed on Australia’s northern coast in 1606. Cook never even sighted the coast of Western Australia).

Hi Marcus

I`ve saved them all, and placed at my dropbox, with some more original stuff about historic artillery. Whoever wants it, please send PM.

Gerhard,

Wunderbar! Downloaded, many thanks.  I have been looking for 'the rules' about the size and position of regal emblems/monograms on English cannons and all arrows point to Peterson.  If it is in there I will post the results.

I believe the files were originally hosted and available for downloading by a website promoting tourism and diving in Bermuda. I have contacted them and do not believe they plan to put them back online: they politely offered to sell me a hard copy (vol 1) from their tourist centre bookshop.

Now to get comfortable and view a thousand pages …

Regards,

Bruce

Hi Gerhard,

That’s great! Thank you so much!

Now I just have to find the rest of the set for the complete works. Below are the missing documents.

Hi hobbydoor

That would be great, so we could have the full set of the green albums! I`ve missed them as I downloaded the parts I have, but there were no link to find for them. Naturally I would be interested in the marks of Austria and Germany, but all the other volumes too!

Hi druxey

I just "fell" over it by searching for marks of prussian cannons, did not find them but the green albums..............

More about the prussian guns is to be found in the files called "Kameke". Feel ALL free to save the albums and the other files on your PC! That are the things that should be saved by so many as possible!

Gerhard, according to the dates on the files, it is about 3.5 years ago since I downloaded them. I did not keep the URLs. However, if you search in Google with 'Kameke 1837' they should come up. There were 10 files with the text volumes and lithographic tables at the time. The bibliographic references are:
