Hiya, I've been making model ships for as long as I can remember, and I've mainly concentrated on static model of royal naval warships of the Napoleonic war era. I usually build from kit, although I'm working up to building from scratch. The trouble is that in this country (I'm in New Zealand), it's very difficult to get any decent modelling timber. Kits cost the earth as well, if you can get them delivered.
One of my wife's ancestors was a boy seaman on HMS Temeraire at Trafalgar (He was eventually rated master gunner, and his tombstone is in the cemetery at Gorleston in Norfolk), and as such she's going to be my next project.
Am I in the right forum, and of course If I'm not maybe you could suggest one for me? (I've been in the Royal Navy all my working life so I've probably heard all the ribald answers to that question).
I'd also like to trace some working drawings or plans for the Temeraire.
Hope to hear from you soon,
