Hello Everyone.

I hope everyone had a great Xmas and New Year?

Well its time to go back to the build.

I'll fire this of with a question.!. Cannons and the rigging. Blocks, I know its a double and single. But does anyone know how to attach the hook etc. as these are more visible than the lower deck and I'm really not over happy with them..

I cant seem to find any info.

Cheers

Rich.

Rich,

Welcome home!! Go into the rigging forum and look for a post about stroping blocks. in there is a video from modeler 12. That helped me tremendously. Also I think it chucks strength or confederacy build you can down load the instructions and in there are details on stropping blocks.

I am back on 12 hour days, if I don't fall asleep when I get home I will search for the links. This should get you started though.

Hello All, Thanks for the comments and Likes, as always very much appreciated.

Thanks for that Sam, I found a few videos. (Video On Stopping Blocks)

Before I found the Video, I used 0.25mm copper wire and made hooks etc. then with the use of silver solder and flux, soldered the ends, ill paint the seen soldered parts.

Hello All, Thanks for the comments and Likes, as always very much appreciated.

After a very long week, I found time this weekend to spend a day on the build. So I started to poop deck planking.... finished port side. (tea Break)... Gone to start the Starboard side...... NOT enough wood strips left.. WHAT!!.. Oh well. place a 2nd order with CMB. as My last order for wood glue, paint just arrived, Now place and pay for two delivers.

Now the Paint has arrived, I can do a few touch ups

I moved on as I had build time. so I started on the Main Channel Plates. I remember a Post and question from someone else (sorry forgot who) On the Channel Plates, I filed one corner ( always the same side) the the bit that sticks out on the Dead eye strops. Was soldered together, to stop coming apart. I also filed a angle on this, - mainly to stop this from slipping out at a tension stage.

All for now.

Cheers

Rich

I found when putting the deadeye strops in that I got a better and more secure result by drill a small hole in the side of the slot in the channel , I even put a drop of C/A on it, had no rips outs, but I did ensure that the chain plates would line up, I also pinned the channels into the hull

Its all part of Kev's journey, bit like going to the dark side, but with the lights on

All the best

Kevin I did all three you said , I did think about pinning the channel plates

Lawrence, Thanks and I thought the solder would keep it better secured.

Greetings one and all.

Not much been happening. Got a bit fed up with repetitive work on gun lids. so instead of making a balls up, I put her to one side..

Anyway, I have pick up the manual once more.

Before I stopped i Planked half the poop deck then run out of wood. I now have finished this but as the Great British Weather the sun has bleached the first half... OOPS..... No I now have to wait to see what happens, not much i can do now any way..

I have Lidded the Starboard side, All lids are open apart from the 1 or 2 at the bow. all done .. the Port side on the other hand... Right or wrong (not changing Starboard side) The Lower Gun deck lids will be closed and the rest will stay open...

if the case that will happen I could turn the ship around for a different look....

thanks the plan any thoughts?

Hello Rich,

If you mean doors to the entry openings as shown in your photo, there is nothing supplied in the kit and no mention of them in the instructions. I simply cut and fitted two pieces of walnut sheet and gluing them at right angles to the openings on each side, simulating an open door.

Hope this helps.

Rich, as mentioned in a previous post, no doors are supplied, but I remember a group discussion a couple of years back, that no one is 100% sure that they existed in the first place at the time of Trafalgar, mine are currently open whilst I decide what to do with them

Well Its been a while for updates, Sorry about that..

As you can see from the Pictures thing have been moving slowly. I had most of this weekend for a change sat in from of the ship.

One of my Problems i found was cain plates, are too long, I could not find any thing in the manual about trimming.. but took the plunge. worked out ok.

The following pictures are progress, Im ratre happy on how things are plodding along.. more so that Book one! is almost finished LOL

Since I took theres  I have cleaned up a bit more

Does anyone know the best way or where to get small flags for the storage boxes

Cheers.
