  1. OK, portlights in and painted. Would like to main rail and top gallant rail done before holidays, my wife wants her counter top back!!
  2. Thanks for the tip. I was using the red and blue ultra fine point MARKERS just for stars and stripes on the eagle. I am using the Sharpie PAINT Pens (which is oil base paint) on any of the wood that needs a fine touch like the white letters of the constitution name plate on the stern. Otherwise I am using all Acrylic paints. I was able to get black, white, red, silver and gold in extra fine point and medium point. I don't know if you have ever seen them they work really well, I was surprised to get them so cheap because they normally $4 each.
  3. Using my diamond burr set to drill holes for Berth Deck Portlights. They make a nice clean hole instead of using regular drill bits which may splinter wood. Also went crazy at Office Max/Depot they had paint markers and pens on sale 50 cents each, great for doing fine details instead of painting with a brush!
  4. Bought the Excel 1/4" Pounce tool from Amazon to add nails on copper plates. Looks like it should work good. Still have to test it out.
  5. Assembled windows for quarter gallery. Found it easier to assemble windows out of ship, then will sand to fit into section.

  7. Thanks for the reply Bill, Although it would be hard to do this to scale, it looks like the pattern is similar to the upper plate...or don't put a pattern on it at all?
  8. Putting on copper plates. Does anyone know if there is a nail pattern on the plates?
