    Hi my names is Jim Freday, I'm 63 years old and have been model and trying to get it right every since I was 7 and got glue all over the windshield of my first model car build. I sent 20 years in HO Model Railroading, the trains never really ran because I was to busy building HO Scale building everything from Outhouses to Factories, some that took almost a year to build. I donated all those building to a local club when I moved across the country. The last 10 years have been spent racing HO T-Jets from the 60's, agin playing around in that scale minuture world, and Modeling Wooden Ship is always been a bucket list thing for me. I have a passion for a very narrow time in history the "French and Indian War" and when I saw Chuck Passaro 18th Century Longboat 1750-1760 I figured "I got to start some where" so I did and it was somebody from Model Expo told me to check you guys out. I dont know how much you will be hearing from me, at this stage I'm just going to trying to be a sponge. In poking around the site I saw Chuck Passaro build of his Longboat, this is going to be a big help to me!

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build.
