Hi Nigel,

Yes, I think you all understand correctly.

What size boat need to you?

Best Regards!

Igor.

Hi Igor,

Thanks for the confirmation!

Ships boat will have a length of 5.5cm with a max beam of perhaps 1.5 cm. Still working on the design, but pretty big by your standards!

Steam winch you just made looks awesome!

Cheers,

Nigel.

Can I please ask what you used as the round cogs at the ends of the winch?  Were they watch mechanism parts?

Hi Patrick,

I have used the 3 parts from the set of the photoetched detailes - base, which I cut into 2 parts and 2 wheels.

I will make the photo of this kit evening.

Best Regards!

Igor.

Thanks Nigel!

5,5 cm?!?! WOW!!! This boat is very big! ))

I think the boat of this size can be made in the traditional way.

I've done several boats from kits. The smallest was 75 mm.

Hi Igor,

Wow..those boats are all great! Wonderful work.

My boat is certainly large by your standards, but as I've never made something like this before, large is probably a good place to start!

Thank you very much for the link showing your other method.  I am wondering if I can actually carve a decent base to frame the boat around. Your other method looks easier for me to try for a first build as I can build it up from flat sections. Appreciate all the help!

Cheers,

Nigel.

That's a clear show of building a small boat Igor. Yours? If so well done, else for the other person my compliments

Hi Carl,

I made these 4 boats shown on the photo from the kits with laser-cutted parts. I was wondering just to try to do it.

The method shown in the link is also very pleasant to me. It seems to me it's quite simple, but effective. It is not my method, I found it on the internet a long time ago.

The method that I used for building these 2 lifeboats for LENA, I use quite often in my SIBs. Using this method I was able to build the really very small boats -

And of course we are ready to help you.

Hi Igor,

I have a hard time believing this... :)

I only see SIB's in your signature, but if you ever decided to do a larger build, I expect the build and its detail level would be stunning!

Cheers,

Nigel.

I like the way tou made the stanchions thicker.  I'll have to remember that one.

Hi Carl and Bob!

Yes, I have added the wooden stanchions which were made from the plank about 0,35x0,35 mm.

Earlier I have made of brass wire stanchions 0.3 mm for Atlantis

But in this project I want to try to make a wooden gunwale on the stanchions.

How many times am I allowed to say, "Wow"?  Without the tweezers in the picture I see a 1:29 scale model not a 1:129 scale.

That's even better, but the log heading says 1:290.  Is that wrong?
