Proxxon KS230 Table Saw (wanted) (now GOT)!

Does any UK or Europe member have a used Proxxon KS230 (27006) table saw gathering dust, currently unused, one you'd be willing to part with?

Please?

I used to have one, but I sold it when I upgraded to the bigger Proxxon saw. Silly mistake. The beauty of the KS230 is that it easily precision-cuts short lengths of small-dimension planks, vital when your model kit fails to include enough of the wood you need.

Plus, if you're willing to regard the sawblades as sacrificial objects, you can also cut fairly thick sheets of brass into useful narrow strips.

Going price for a new one seems to be around the £100 mark now, and the UK suppliers seem now (at last) to be matching the prices that the suppliers in Germany and Italy have been offering for the last few years.

No offers.  I can't say I'm surprised.  No-one who's got one of these little Proxxon saws should be daft enough to let it go!  It's such a useful item in a model-maker's workshop.

So OK, I'm psyching myself up to buy a new one.
Best price I can find from a reputable UK supplier is £98.00 inc. delivery.  Axminster weren't bad, at £103.44.  Ebay had sellers asking up to £141 for the same tool.  However, there's at least one supplier in Germany who sell it for £84.10 (incl. taxes) and only charge £4.99 for delivery to a UK address.

I'm weighing the options...

Ouch, I gave away my saw a month ago to another person on the forum who needed it. The person decided to save $30 and disappeared without a trace, instead of covering the shipping costs (the saw itself was for free).  I should have shipped it to you instead, but now the saw is gone :(

Have you tried this shop? http://www.satberlin.de/de/Proxxon-Maschinen/Tischgeraete-/Proxxon-Tischkreissaege-KS-230-NO-27006

It works, I ordered proxxon stuff there, no issues!

Ah, Mike, I'm sorry you got ripped off.
I'll add my voice to the suggestion that you report him to MSW admin.  It might help to keep this website a safe place for other people wanting to make similar transactions.

Your link to Satberlin was a good one.  Their price, including delivery to the UK, is almost the same as the people at
https://www.reichelt.com/Power-Tools/PROXXON-27006/3/index.html?ACTION=3&LA=446&ARTICLE=30925&GROUPID=575&artnr=PROXXON+27006&SEARCH=27006
are offering.

I've decided to give Reichelt a try.

That is one of the saddest things I've heard in a long time.

I was just about to jump in and point you Germanywards but you got there before me. Never buy Proxxon from rip off UK merchants!

I have to confess that I own the saw you want but, since buying a Byrnes, it has become my dedicated metal cutter.

good luck,

Thanks for the good words, you are all right, not sure what I was waiting for. Reported it to administrators.

Brian, sorry for hijacking your topic, hope you will get it quick from satberlin!  :)

I've had several Proxxon tools from Germany, a couple from Satberlin. The shipping cost from Germany (about £9) was also half the UK supplier charge. If there was any justice, the UK suppliers should be had up for attempted theft.

Enjoy your new tool.

And here it is.  Arrived today.

The plug's an European one.  I'll be cutting that off to fit a proper UK one, although I've a suspicion that's now an illegal activity here.  Ordinary people can't be trusted to fit their own electrical plugs.  You need to have done a 5-year apprenticeship to do things like that.

The 1,644-page catalogue that came with the saw must weigh more than the saw does!  And it's all in German, so I can't read it.

Nice looking saw, a shame to cut a cord on a new machine. You can't buy an adaptor or make one up yourself?

I've actually got an adapter that would probably do the job perfectly. I just like to live dangerously.

Brian, very nice saw there, mate. :dancetl6:

As far as the phone book/catalogue, most of us only look at the pictures, so what does it matter if it's written in German. ;):P:D:o

Hi Steve. There's no fuse in the euro plug that came with my saw.

Contrary to what I said yesterday, I didn't actually cut off the plug after all. I could have done - and then I could have fittted a UK plug with whatever fuse I thought appropriate.

But there's a UK 3-pin adapter that accepts the flat euro plug and turns it into an OK Brit plug. The one I've got happens to have a 13a fuse, and I've left it at that. 3a would be marginal in my view. 5a might be better, but none of my spare fuses (I've got hundreds) seems to be a 5a one!
