Hi all,

Now that I've notified all my family, and know where I'm heading with this, I thought I'd let you all know that I've found out I have Prostate Cancer. In case you were wondering why I haven't posted much lately.

The doctors are very optimistic about my chances of recovery given a bit of time, but for the moment I've stopped work on "Vulture" as I have very severe back pain as a result of the cancer.

Hopefully I'll be back at it soon.

Danny

I've been making progress on my model and according to the instruction booklet I should be painting it, at least parts of it.

Are acrylic's ok ? I did apply a sanding sealer. but I want to stain the untreated floor boards which are walnut.

Thanks

Hi Dan,

Sorry to hear that and I can truly sympathize, been there myself too.  Radiation solved my problem, so far.

Now I have bladder cancer, which we are treating with a BCG protocol.

I understand what you are going through but my prayers are going out.

Keep strong and have a very positive mindset, that helps.

Cheers,

Don't worry about the prostate cancer mate, it's quite treatable these days - provided it has a low Gleason score, low PSA, etc etc. You still have a number of years to go yet!

BTW I hope you are seeking an opinion from John Hunter Hospital. If you like, you can PM me. I know a little about cancer. Well I would bloody well hope so given that it's my specialty ;)

Best of luck beating this, Danny. Good news that the docs are optimistic. Something tells me you're not supposed to quit model ship building just yet! (If you know what I mean!) ;)

Hi Dan,

Such tough news and all the pain and heartache and you still have been here helping so many people like me out.  It sure shows what sort of person you are and explains a little on why we all think so much of you.

I believe this is will be just another page in the life log of Danny Vadas that we will read together years and years later but you still have my all my prayers and wishes for a speedy cure and recovery.

*hugs*

Danny,
I'll add my wishes for a speedy recovery, too. My understanding is that it's very treatable these days. Sorry about the back, though, that doesn't sound like fun.
