Hallo Colin,

off course you are right with this comment, especially because John McKay is showing also a Brodie (on page 81 (of german copy)).....

Nicely made, but completely inaccurate. Bounty - being fitted by the British Navy would have had the Brodie stove.

It's a little bit of a mystery as to why a French source is being used before British sources. Frolich does nice stuff, and has good technique, but his historical detailing doesn't necessarily apply to British ships.

Colin

Colin and uwek, Embarassed indeed it has been a great error to place an outer stove of a French ship in one british. When I saw the work of Frolich immediately I thought about using it in my bounty, by similarity at the time, forgetting to me the differences as far as nationality. As the result is acceptable similarity to me, I believe that I am going to let it to decide always to ask to me before making a decision from this type and to do it to which they know more

I just responded over on DDM as well - the original plans do actually depict the stove.

It's a matter of source material. I wouldn't refer to Frolich for historical references for an English ship, just like I wouldn't refer to Lavery if I was building a French one. I would refer to Frolich for modeling technique - he does some great work.

PostPosted: Tue Feb 17, 2009 12:42 pm    Post subject: Brodie stove and pumps

Recalling to mind a little and to be coherent with the title of this subject (Bounty AL according to monograph by John McKay) I have decided to do without the kitchen that had realised (keeping it for a future project from some French ship of the time) and to place the one that corresponds to him, "brodie stove". Once located the pertinent documentation on that type of kitchen that mounted "all" the English ships of the time, due to a concession, now are question of would raise if to use the one that brings kit, that is an attempt of reproduction of that kitchen or to try to realise a new one starting off of this information.

I do not know if it will be worth the trouble to do considering it the following considerations: scale (1:48) and the material (that when not realising it in metal would try, it to do in wood), what you think? Somebody has made some brodie stove from planes?

As far as the pumps, also it had raised to change them, those to me of kit, are a simple tube of brass and in the part of above, a species of glass, with a water-drainage and the crank drives that them. According to the monograph, the part superior is of octagonal section and the tube, reason why it is deduced of the original planes of Greenwich it does not present/display reduction, that is to say it has the same section in all their length. I deduce that both parts would be of metal and not of wood, I am mistaken? , somebody has realised the pumps of bounty? it will aesthetically turn out to simulate those metallic wood pumps?

I wait for your opinions

Just replied over on DDM.

For those not on DDM I've refernced to Alans' tutorial on MSD.

There are also plans for the stove there as well

The pumps were all wood apart from the handles.

Excellent job and don't worry about your English, we understand you perfectly.

Great tutorial, Colin. Amazing what people can come up with when you need to find a solution. Laughing

Scuttlebut, thank you very much by your commentarie. I believe that the brodie stove is a piece that is worth the trouble to be realised by one same one, because the being an open model sees much and the one that brings kit it is very simple.

I have only maintained two pieces: the chimney and the condenser, then they approached enough the form and scale proposals by the monograph
