Hi mates. Preparing lazy (waiting Xmas) my next project I want to show up a method constructing barrels.
1. Depending on your scale cut a piece from cardboard and make a tube with the dimensions of the barrel you want to construct minus 2mm from the height and 1 mm from the width.2.Cut to cardboard strips and glue them at each end and face to them. I prefer crosswise. See photo.

3.From a piece of thin (about 1mm) and soft copper cut the exact dimensions of the barrel.

4.With a conical end of a tool and a ruler draw the lines of the barrel on the copper watching not to cut off the metal. You will make 4 grooves 2 in the middle and one at each end.

5.And now the tip. As you understood we going to make a metal tube. But doing the following tip you will avoid waved ends… Turn the other side the piece of copper and again with the same tools make a pass (not a new groove) between the groove and the end of the copper. And that’s it.

6.From copper again cut off two cycle pieces with the same diameter of the cardboard tube and clue them on the cardboard strips.

7.Then place the cardboard tube in the already formed (from the other side of the grooves) metal tube.

8.Aply glue on the inner tube and close to the side ends of the metal one and stick it down.

9.Now the paint will give the final result.

Instead of the cardboard tube you can use a piece of wood but if you don’t have the requested diameter…..?Or if you like to leave one end of the barrel opened then use only one cycle cover glued on a sorter cardboard cylinder or on a slice of wood. On the same slice you will attach the rest barrel.
Many thanks

Hi! Thanasis

Seriously, you are unbeliveble. If you haven't thought about it you should put together a "Model makers tricks of the trade-book" You seem to know them all and those you don't know you invent.
I know I would buy that book Very Happy Very Happy

Deepest respect

Erik
