Here's something I made many years ago from an article in the Nautical research journal shop notes. I no longer have the one I built so re-drew it. Hope the pics make sense!

The wood you wish to taper is clamped in place by the sliding plate as below.


It works well.

Believe you would use a small hand plane to taper the plank. While the plank is held securely in this jig.

The main body slides back and forth (anchored/secured/tightened in place, by two wing nuts) thereby allowing whatever sized width plank to be held securely between the two boards, as the diagram shows.
Likewise as your cutting the plank, the plank is held stationary by the board to the left of the diagram preventing it from moving.


Quite an ingenius tapering jig,. Top Job!
