Hi mates. Next time you have to throw out an old umbrella, think what you can get from it..
From an old one I have made some of my rigging tools and here is my suggestion:
Basic presupposition is the umbrella’s arm must have an “eye” close to end of it.

Remove the cloth from the umbrella and disconnect the arms of it. From every arm remove two clips so as you can get the last part of the arm with the “eye” on it. You can leave the adapter (of the two clips) i think is a good handler.

Then make a list with your needs and in some parts cut the “eye” as showing on photo or leave the “eye” and make some file at the ends and your personal adaptations.

The below photo shows some solutions of my needs.

What a great idea, Thanasis! I have several old umbrellas in the garage I was getting ready to throw out. Not now! Very Happy

Thanassi,
In Management lessons this is what they say:
"use your available resources".

Once again you gave as an example of the above rule!

Thanassi, thanks for the heads up on this. I've got several umbrellas that I can pick and choose from now.

Now if you can just think of a use for this old 327 engine block I have sitting out in the back yard. Laughing
