Thought I'd post this to help with all the filing and sanding that's going on with the Triton cross-section build.
I find it next to impossible to sand or file a small surface area flat, to my satisfaction, without a jig.
This sanding jig can be constructed with little more than a few pieces of scrap, a drill, a square to line things up, and a couple of bolts. You can remove the feet if you make recesses for the lower bolt heads, or use a clamp and a ruler to replace the fence. The holes can be used instead of the two slots, or to insert pegs to hold the workpiece against. Use wing-nuts to make tightening the bolts easy.
Glue the abrasive paper to the sanding bock with rubber cement. Use both sides of the block with different grades of paper. The small strip of wood on the bottom 'shelf' stops you sanding your jig instead of the workpiece.
If you want to use a flat file, then hold it again the block as a guide.
I used a similar commercially available jig for a while, until I thought of this little baby. No more fiddling with your futtocks, Triton-heads!

Assuming nothing has gone previously awry in the machine shop, then Mk 1 hand (2 pieces) with attachments a, b, c, d and e, usually suffice.
Or you could drill a few holes for pegs perpendicular to the sanding direction. With only two pegs you'll always have two points of contact on a curved surface.
Another cheap tool that I find incredibly useful in conjunction with the jig is the angle setter
