This tip is submitted by Alexei Baranov from the 'Elite Shipwrights Association of Odessa' www.shipmodels.com.ua Alexei has kindly donated these pictures showing moulding masters being produced, and the resulting castings. These pictures can be used directly in conjunction with the Mould Making tutorial here on MSW.

I'm sure you will agree that the skills of Alexei are superb, and make very interesting viewing.

Many thanks to you Alexei! PDT_Aliboronz_24

Hi Jim, thanks for posting these. I would like to offer a great "huzzah" to Alexei and other experienced modellers such as Dave Collier, for posting these tips and "how to" for us "apprentices". The willingness of these people to share their techniques is what makes this forum so good. Many of us could still muddling along, "experimenting" and using poor technique in our building if these tips and ideas were not openly exchanged.

It will still take some considerable patience and practice on my part to get anywhere near Alexei's skill level (but that is my dream), but at least I am now using a tried and proven way. That does not mean that there there are other ways of achieving the same result and that is the great benefit of forums such as this.

Thankyou to the both of you and I look forward to many more of Alexei 's very useful tips and techniques.

cheers

Pat
