Dear Forum,
Yes, me myself I suffer from the
"whenIbecomerichIwillbuyallthetoolsoftheword" syndrom, but
I try to control myself and think reasonably.
So, I built the sander below. It works fine! One problem though:
there is no provision to attach a vacuum cleaner...
Very Happy
Stelios

A simple solution! Nice work. I was just bone idle and bought some drum sanders for my drill press! Laughing

Hi Stelios,

I good idea! Easy (but) and good.

And I am sure that you will prepare something also for the vacuum cleaner....it is only a question of some days....or?

As a general comment, I do not like vacuum cleaners because they are very noisy. I know, there are some quiet models in the market, but they are expensive, especially for the purpose we modellers use them!

Now, seriously, the proccess of sanding the frames, produce significant amount of powdered dust, harmful if you inhale it.
No matter if me or someone else come to a solution, the vacuum cleaner must be on site to clean the mess periodically.

Thanassi,
Perhaps your idea will be part of version 2.0...
Very Happy

If you can put a hole in the wall, you can put the vacuum outside. Just run the hose through. All you will hear is the woosh of the air. The noise may bother the neighbors, but not you! Very Happy

Stelios, great idea, but have you thought about checking for a cheap drill press? There are many places where you can purchase a drill press for less than a rotary tool and then you can purchase several sizes of sanding drums that will work with the drill press.

Drill press? compatible to dremel? Hmm..
I don't think they exist, at least here in my country.
Besides, until now, I did not feel the necessity to buy one; perhaps in the future.

Anyway, that jig cost me only my labor. The wood was scrap wood from floor covering.
BTW, wood for floor covering is ideal for ship building, because it is already cured and it will never warp.
