Dear all,

I would like to present you my waxing jig. I used it for my Bounty build and it proved to be efficient. I feel it is imperative to mention that the original idea is not mine, if you wish to see my source of information please follow the link below:

http://shipmodeling.net/vb_forum/articles.php?action=viewarticle&artid=18

My version is much more simplified and very easy to build:

A) you will need two jars, one smaller than the other so to fit easily within the bigger.
Do not overdo it with the sizes, just remember that only a few quantity of beeswax is needed to wax a lot of thread.
In my case the big jar is from the jusual domestic jam/marmalade and the small one from horseradish sauce.
you will also need a piece of wire and two bolts with nuts.

B) I have attached the two lids and the wire as per the picture below.
I haw also drilled to holes, so that the thread comes in and out.

C) The smaller jar contains the beeswax. I warm it and bring it into liquid beforehand; then cover it with the lid as seen in the picture.

D) Next, add boiling water into the big jar and place the smaller one within.
The boiling water will keep the beeswax liquid long enough (more than ten minutes), long enough to wax many meters of thread.

E) As I pull out the waxed thread, I use a piece of rag to wipe off the excessive wax.

Hallo Stelios,

thank you very much for this small tutorial which is showing in a very good way
how to solve this work with the help of a small tool.
And the photos and the shown sequence are self explanatory. PDT_Aliboronz_15

Where you get all of your ideas? Or better to simplify other ideas......?
It is so simple, but I am sure very sufficient.

GREAT

Uwe,

Thank you for your kind words, but as I mentioned, this idea is not mine; I just used somebodyelse's idea.
Internet is a "big huge" library and that's where I get most of my recources.

Since you are Engineer by profession, your questions just reminded me the following joke:

Quote:
The Retired Engineer
There was an engineer who had an exceptional gift for fixing all things mechanical. After serving his company loyally for over 30 years, he happily retired. Several years later his company contacted him regarding a seemingly impossible problem they were having with one of their multi-million dollar machines. They had tried everything and everyone else to get the machine fixed, but to no avail. In desperation, they called on the retired engineer who had solved so many of their problems in the past.

The engineer reluctantly took the challenge. He spent a day studying the huge machine. At the end of the day he marked a small "x" in chalk on a particular component of the machine and proudly stated, "This is where your problem is." The part was replaced and the machine worked perfectly again.

The company received a bill for $50,000 from the engineer for his service. They demanded an itemized accounting of his charges. The engineer responded briefly:

One chalk mark......................$1

Knowing where to put it........$49,999

It was paid in full and the engineer retired in peace

Regards
Stelios
Very Happy

Hi Stelios,

unfortunately I have to work still more than 20 years before my retirement...........and therefore I am not able to write bills (in any kinds)........but afterwards Twisted Evil

Thank you for the joke , I will keep it !

Nevertheless I already mentioned that you simplified the idea (of somebody else) and made it (especially for me) much more workable and useful.

Thanks for this
