    Hi. I'm trying to date a historical map, and it has been suggested that someone on this forum might recognise particular features of ships drawn on the margin (see below) which might pin the dating down to a particular decade of the 18th century. The map itself (of part of the south coast of England) is very sketchy, and what seems to be an even sketchier copy of it in the same archive collection has accounts scribbled on the back dated 1750. I'd be interested to know the likely occupation of the depicted ships too. Thanks in advance for any helpful suggestions! Stephen (on Twitter @docuracy)

    I have a question regarding the stern flag pole on my HMS Leopard rigging plans. The standing rigging plan shows what I believe to be a flag pole mounted to the stern. Seems reasonable until I look at the running rigging plan and see see that the spanker boom runs out past it. How does the spanker boom go past center when rigged to the port or starboard side? Far from a rigging expert, what am I missing? Standing rigging plan running rigging plan Any help would be appreciated. Tom

    hello everyone I'm going to start with the flags and because its my first build(bounty of mamoli 1/100) do i need to know something before i start? how to cut the flag? how to glue the flag to the rope ? how to make the flag That will not fall ? .. kind regards Michael.

    http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/02488/flag_2488242b.jpg I wish I could tell you more about this image. Its said to be a flag flown at tTrafalgar from the San Ildefonso. Further its said to have been flown over St Paul's Cathedral during Admiral Nelson's funeral.
