Civil War blockade runner

this model was built from a plastic kit by Linburg. the model is a kit of the Civil War Blockade runner Harriet Lane. I was interested in the sleek and narrow blockade runners so I minimally modified this kit by taking off the bowsprit and all spars above the crows nests, shortened the boom and gaff, and added the turtleback deck (out of a paint chip card) the rest is straight out of the box. . the result is ok. I don't usually make plastic kits so this was a great exercise in pressie painting and there are several things that I have to improve on, however this was a fun and quick project.

I'm very impressed by the model and the additional detail you gave it. We're changing some of the exhibits at the museum and one of the area's I'm investigating is the blockade and the Confederacy's attempt to overcome it. This model help's explain the creativity exhibited by blockade runners.
