My rendition of the frame displayed build of the Fair American. One objective I enjoyed completing was "painting with wood" There is no paint on the completed model, all color comes from different varieties of beautiful wood.

Thanks for the likes and comments. It wasn’t easy To paint with wood and with the limited availability for these woods now.

Thanks for the likes and comments. It was rewarding to paint with wood but with limited availability now it will be a good challenge just to find the wood.

Beautiful! Where did you get your colored woods? You're making me want to do my upcoming Pride of Baltimore II build that way. Either that or paint it in rainbow colors in keeping with the Pride theme 😉

Glenn - This is a stunning build! One of my goals is to build a model like this with the frame an interior showing. I assume you scratch built it all (and would love to know what types of wood you used as well)?

Sorry just seeing this. The majority including the frames (each consisting of 8 pieces x 38 frames) is cherry. The sides are boxwood, ebony (the Wales) and maple. The deck is holly. The gallery is boxwood and redheart. The deck furniture, trans one, and rails are walnut. It was fun but long build.

Jeff from Hobby Mill was a tremendous source. Unfortunately he’s no longer on business.
