Flying Dutchman/Black Pearl SIB - 1/700

This Ship in Bottle presentation was inspired by the movie, Pirates of the Caribbean – At World’s End.  The Flying Dutchman is a ghost ship condemned to sail the seas throughout eternity, whose legend dates back to the 17th century. The Black Pearl is a fictional ship created as a centerpiece of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.

In the third installment of the movie franchise, the Dutchman and the Pearl lead opposing sides in the battle between the East India Trading Company and the Brethren Court of Pirates for supremacy of all seas. As the battle nears its climax, the sea goddess Calypso creates a maelstrom (whirlpool) that endangers both adversaries.

The scene inside the bottle replicates the part of the movie where the Flying Dutchman and the Black Pearl circle the edge of Calypso's whirlpool, attempting to engage each other in battle without falling into the vortex.

Thanks, Dan!  It's a 1.75 liter bottle of Paul Masson brandy.  The bottle is not that tall (about 12 inches) but it's very wide which is what I needed to have the ships turned almost sideways inside.  The Flying Dutchman on the left is about 3.75" in length and the Black Pearl is about 3.3" to give you some perspective.
