  1. Many thanks to both of you for your advice. Will proceed accordingly! Happy New Year. Jeff
  2. Hi, I'm new to model ships and am building Caldercraft Badger but would appreciate some advice if anyone has built it It's regarding the gunports. The manual says to "use full use of PVA and flathead pins" but I can't understand (very inexperienced) how the gunport will stay steady when the bulkhead extensions are removed at a later time and whether removing these extensions will damage the gunport pattern. Also, when the plank terminations are removed what will the gunport pattern be attached to? Perhaps I am overthinking this and should just plod on and see what happens! Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jeff.
  3. Hi Jonny, Thanks very much for your very helpful reply. I had, just about, come to the same conclusion myself but wanted to make sure I wasn't "missing something". The picture on the box shows a very different sort of fixing which is available from Mantua and which look a lot easier to install but as I'm more or less using this build as a learning curve I didn't think it worth spending £10 to replace them. Very much looking forward to your new postings. Best regards. Jeff.
  4. Hi & help! The President is also my first build and things were going pretty good until now...I am struggling with the chain plates - could any kind person give me some tips. 1) When I "open" the sections to assemble them, how to get them "closed" without totally distorting them? 2) How to attach them to the hull, does the foot need to be bent & what glue would you recommend for metal to wood, ordinary CA? I've not seen these questions before so perhaps I'm being very thick!!! but any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Jeff.
