  1. Bob, I just scrolled through this build log. Amazing work! Your other builds are inspiring as well. And I know what you mean about aging eyes. At 45, I just found out I need reading glasses for the first time. Erik
  2. My 18th Century Longboat kit came from Model Shipways yesterday. I double checked to make sure everything that should be in the box was, and snapped a couple of photos. Though I consider myself a fairly accomplished modeler with other materials, this is my first wooden boat model. I'm excited to jump in! Being new at this, I welcome any input and advice you seasoned veterans have to offer, so please feel free to offer a critique/constructive criticism of my work. Now, it's time to break out my modeling supplies and tools, and get started . . . Erik
  3. Jerry, As mentioned above, Grandt Line may have something you can use: http://www.grandtline.com/products/arch/quarter/quarter_scale_architectural_windows.html As far as using a plastic detail on a wooden ship model, I'm not sure what's "acceptable". It would seem to me if it's OK to use metal castings, it would be OK to use an odd plastic part if there were no viable wood alternative. But, being new to this wooden ship endeavor myself . . . I may be branded a heretic for that suggestion. Erik
