About Me
I am relatively new to model ship building and am now on my third build - Fair American, for which I plan to maintain a build log on this forum. About 40 years ago, I did build a ship in a bottle, following directions from a library book and after taking care to empty the Pinch Scotch bottle that I used. And five years ago, I built a sailboat/row boat using a kit that I obtained from Chesapeake Light Craft out of Annapolis, Maryland. In the apparent lingo of this forum, I kit-bashed this boat, making many changes to the kit design, using different (and better) wood than provided in the kit, etc. I thoroughly enjoyed this build, which took a little over two years. In fact, I enjoyed the build far more than the sailing, which never really took off with me.
Now I am into model ships, and thus far, I am enjoying it with a passion. I am delighted to be in the company of the many master builders on this site. I often find myself getting lost in just a build log and reading it from end to end.
