  1. Thanx for sharing Bob. Great video (that led to a few other neat videos). There’s a gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico called Tai. It features Japanese baskets exclusively. They are awesome.....actually unbelievable. Again, thanx for sharing.....Allan
  2. There is a jig called (I think) “Fair-a-Frame”. I’ve never used it but have seen it sold by various suppliers.
  3. I’ve never used anything but needle nose pliers to change blades. Easy to do after you’ve done a few.....Allan
  4. Get all three! 80 for aggressive wood removal and rough finish. 180 is less aggressive, and will give a nice finish but not super smooth. 320 is not aggressive but will leave a very smooth finish.
  5. All good suggestions. You should also check to determine if the fence in parallel to the blade. If the fence is even very slightly angled into the blade the wood/saw will bind or even kickback.....Allan/Milo
  6. Thanx for posting. Great video although I wish there was audio with some info. Do you know what type of motor was used and the power source. I'm a real neophyte at this....Allan
  7. I've seen this used by jewelers to measure thickness of metal. Not sure if that's the primary use or what the other part is. Milo
  8. I find changing blades on my Hegner easy. I use the fast release fixture and it works well. Like most things it takes a bit of practice but then becomes easy. Milo
  9. Byrnes machines are fantastic. I've used other power tools for our hobby but none match Byrnes products. In addition to some of the other comments I wish the sander had variable speed. I know there is a speed difference from the center to the outside of the disc but adjustable variable speed would be great. I wish you could add adjustable stops on the miter gauge for the table saw. This would be a huge help when making repetitive cuts..... Milo
  10. Has anyone used Aleens Fast Grab glue with good results.....Milo
  11. Xcelta has great products but pricy.,,,,Milo
  12. Guys; I'm new to the forum (and ship building) and reading this great thread in 2016. I'm currently building the Ranger. Are there any new tips on tying and which glue to use? My knots are terrible and I must confess that I use ca for glue (because it is fast). Any suggestions or updates! Thanx.....Milo
  13. I'm beginning the rigging on the Ranger. I've lost the instructions and hope someone can tell me what rope size should be used for the shrouds and the corresponding size for the seizing. Thank you.....Milo
