Obviously I enjoy scale model building, ships and my HO scale railroad layout are my main areas right now but I still do the occasional car model for people.
I also highly enjoy wood working, especially lathe work. I make many things from pens and ornaments to bowls, plates, vases and goblets. Always experimenting and trying new ideas as I see them.
Outside of these I also enjoy my wife, two dogs and outdoor activities like biking, camping and fishing.

About Me

My paying job is an estimator/project manager for a general commercial construction contractor. I was a field superintendent but in the spring of 2015 I became sick and unable to work in the field so I got moved into our office.I have been in construction in one form or another for 15 years now including my tour in the U.S. Navy Seabees.

My wife and I have been together for ten years now and I am very fortunate in that she fully supports my various expensive hobbies of ship building, model railroading and wood working. We do not have kids but we do have a couple of dogs that for now are our kids.

About the NRG

If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model shipcraft.

The Nautical Research Guild puts on ship modeling seminars, yearly conferences, and juried competitions. We publish books on ship modeling techniques as well as our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, whose pages are full of articles by master ship modelers who show you how they build those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you what details to build.
