  1. I am currently building this ship and located the very helpful build log noted as missing in the previous post, http://www.chez-xandra.eu/publ/16-1-0-60
  2. I tested out some Valspar Tractor and Implement Primer with some Minwax matte clear coat and it looks a pretty good match to ME bulwarks red and Caldercraft red ocre.
  3. Here is a shot of the finished Charles P. Notman schooner, beautiful vessel for carrying coal!.. As I said, I hate photography and I am not sure who the grumpy guy in the photo is.
  4. David, would you be inclined to send that picture which so clearly shows the issue highlighted with the darker color extensions to Ages of Sail and ask them to talk with their Amati rep about it. This really should be fixed, it is an expensive kit. Like you, I don't have the tools to actually cut new bulkheads and this was why I did not purchase the kit. Your solution looks quite fine.
  5. Sometime during the summer I emailed Ages of Sail and asked them to inquire with Amati about whether this was a problem and if they would address it. According to Ages of Sail, Amati said they were not aware of any problem and needed more info. I had these revised templates sent to them and did not hear anything back.
  6. I'll try to clean up my disasterous work space and ask the wife to see if she can get a couple decent shots of the Notman. It is a beautiful ship for hauling dirty coal. Also a nice respite from building multiple dozens of canon and the rigging is not over the top difficult. I'll take the booms and gaffs over yards anyday.
  7. I am a long time lurker from Northern NY where I teach organic and medicinal chemistry. Have been enjoying the hobby off and on for about 20 years. The contributions from people on this forum have been invaluable to me. I have a strong aversion to photography and refuse to be bound to a cell phone so pictures are not something I can offer most of the time. I am quite willing to answer any questions on the models I have tackled. From MS the Niagara and Confederacy, from AL the Endeavour and from Bluejacket my current project the Notman which is done except for the rigging. thank you all
  8. David, I will be interested to hear your take on the issue of whether the bow bulkheads are way too narrow. I have been considering this kit. Links to the issue below https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?2680633-Amati-RMS-Titanic http://www.buildthetitanic.co.uk/spantencorrectie.pdf L. French current - Charles Notman (Bluejacket) completed - Confederacy MS, US Brig Niargara (MS), Endeavour (AL)
