  1. Hi. I was recently in an conversation with Amati and i can tell you they wont release the victory for a long time. Im guessing years. They had multiple other ships to be released before the victory. I was advised to not wait and rather find another build that takes years to build. Thats why im guessing it wont be released this year at all. I dont think there is any chance of it being released in 2018 too. The answer they gave me was pretty clear. But it would be nicer if they could have given us an estimate tho. Its almost like an Area 51 secret. Watton have probably been killed because he knew too much. Its also best if anyone who read this should erase all digital tracks for your own safety. Amatis men in black might be at your door already. Just kidding, but i dont really understand why it needs to be kept such a secret since we all know its pretty much done already. Why cant they just give us some good information?
  2. Hi! It will be interesting to see a Norwegian build. I have never met another Norwegian modelbuilder, but i do know they are out there hiding in workshops. Im trying to find a club in Stavanger but, i dont think there is any. Im trying to gather local ship modelbuilders because of the Tall Ships races in 2018 held in Stavanger. The people arranging it are thinking about putting up an exhibition for modelships to be displayed. But without models that wont be easy:)
  3. That looks great. Looks very realistic those night photos. If i didnt know it was a model i would never have guessed so
  4. Good log to follow this one is. I bought the vasa museum plans with a plan of scratchbuilding it, but then i learned about this kit instead. So i subscribed to these magazines 3 weeks ago. I havent seen a single magazine in my postbox yet. But im hoping they will start pouring in next week. I ordered them off editionatlas. How long did it take for you to recieve the first shipment? After reading your log i figure out maybe its best for me to wait and build it until all the parts have been recieved. Was those cannon port templates in the kit? Considering Fred Hocker was involved with the making of this kit and provided them with the newest research/plans up til now. This must be the doings of Deagostini/AL. If they have altered such a thing i wonder what else they have decided to change for the worse. The kit being designed with Fred Hocker and the newest research and plans was the main reason i ordered this ship. Being told the old plans were quite wrong. I thought this build of vasa was the one to have. It will be interesting to see how this this ship turns out! I wish you good luck and you are doing a great job already. Please finish the ship and inform how the build is. It is of great help.
  5. I like these kinds of modern ships. I think they look great. It will be very interesting to see it how you do with the rc parts. I have never seen a log with that before
  6. Thank you very much but i dont think my boat looks good haha. There is allot of mistakes if i zoom in on areas:) the ratlines and shrouds are one of my mistakes. I didnt read the drawing well enough and thougt all the deadeyes would connect to my ratlines. Also some of the deadeyes twists all the time. And the seizing are just fakes. I took some photos on how i did it. I learnt it on a website somewhere. First i find something round that will fit the size of the ropes i will use. This time it was a small drill bit. I put some wax on it so the ca glue wont stick later on. Then i just twist the rope around it. Put a drop of ca glue on and cut of the ends. And drag it off the drillbit Then you have a fake seizing. To make the other rope that will go into fit inside just put a small drop of ca glue on the end and twist it . Then i will pass the hole in the fake seizing without problem. Just cut of the part that has ca glue on it after. About the sails, i dont know myself. I want to put them on, but i think it looks nice without them aswell. So i just put it on my shelf for now. And when i have time and figure out how to make the sails i will probably put them on. But for now they stay in my box:)
  7. Nice job so far! I reckognise many of the questions you are asking as i also wondered about the same stuff when i made mine. And i also see solutions you have done that i should have done to if you are wondering about anything just ask, im not sure if i will be of any help as i cheated and did allot of mistakes on this boat but who knows maybe i can be of some help anyway:) i dont have any photos of my ship on this site but i will put one out here on your thread if thats ok?
  8. Looks good! Clever way to twist them. I just started planking directly from the top and pinned the planks down with thin needles. I was wondering if i should put some filler in between the bulwards at the stern as the planks splintered at the end when pushing the needle thru. I think it would be easier and better structure with some filling where the twist happens. It could be better ways to do it out there but thats what is in my head right now with the little knowledge i got. I would also soak the planks in water like you do because i splintered allot of wood Also look at the part #0a* as i remembered this part not being mentioned in the instructions. I noticed this part when i was done painting the ship so i left that part out. I did not figure out how in the world this part would fit the stern anyway. Maybe you can figure that out:) I am building the black pearl ship, Unfortunately this ship is from a chinese manufacturer that is black listed here. I knew this when i bought it, but the black pearl has always been a ship i wanted to make and it seems like they are the only ones that makes it. After this i have the san felipe from panart i will try to make
  9. Hi! I recently did this kit myself it was my first ship build aswell. Could not figure out how to draw the lines and i didnt like the idea that the deck would be just drawn on the deck, so i just went ahead to my local shop and bought some mahogny strips for the deck. It worked out ok. Im very interested too see how your build will be. I did allot of mistakes and used allot of filling everywhere but it turned out ok after all. Atleast i learned allot about ship modeling But i do wish to redo this model after i have finished some other ships and get more experienced. Cant wait too see your results! Good luck and i will be following this one
  10. Thanks for all the input. I will probably not buy this kit as I have already been on a rampage buying ships lately. And that, without the dragon in the house knowing about it. I dont know how i can smuggle one more ship into my storage without her noticing it. Nevertheless it was interesting to get to know more about this kit! Thanks again
  11. Hi! I came over this old kit on an online marketplace. It is being sold for 60 dollars. Have anyone seen this kit before? Who is the manufacturer? And would it be worth 60 dollars? It does not look like the vasa i have seen and seems to be allot of plastic parts and stickers. But im thinking for that price it could be fun anyway. Anyone who have some thougts or knowledge of this kit?
