Greg, Your build looks fantastic. I'm really impressed with your creativity throughout the many steps. I, too, am building the HMS Endeavour AL 1:60. I have just finished the standing rigging and now starting the running rigging. I'm having a lot of difficulty interpreting AL's plans. Since this is my first build I have no experience to draw from. Can you tell me where I can get plans that are more detailed and easier to follow? I will appreciate any guidance you can give me. Pete

Looking good Rowand. I didn't realize when I started my AL Endeavour that the hull would be the least difficult part of the process. I have now finished the standing rigging and I am starting the running rigging. I am disappointed in AL's instructions. I think they are incomplete, confusing and even have some errors. I would like to know if any of the readers know of any written guides available for this model. Pete

Hi Adrieke, I chose the HMS Endeavour as my first model. Currently I am on the last fixed rigging step and I am stumped as to its routing and attachment. Specifically, it is part #370 the Fore topmast stay sail rib. The AL directions are not clear. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Pete

Hello Endeavour builders, Rowand, your ship is looking good! I'm building mine on the order of the original color scheme and I'm to the point where the deck fittings are completed, the masts are built and I'm installing the blocks, etc onto the masts. So, I'll be starting the rigging shortly and frankly it has me a little apprehensive. It doesn't seem as if the instructions have enough detail. One of the uncertainties I have is the attachment of the yards to the masts. Can anyone give me any advise on this? If I can figure out how to attach photos to my posts I'll send them along. This question is for Adrieke and Roland or anyone else with some advice. In building the Endeavour I am now at the stage where the various fittings will be installed on the deck. I am undecided as to whether to stain and varnish the deck or to paint it. Which ever I decide, it's probably best to do it now rather than after all the fittings are in place, don't you agree? If I paint the deck (and the hull) can you tell me where to find the color scheme and what brand paints to buy? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. Pete

Hi Rowan and folks, Your ship is looking good! I am about at the same place except that I have installed the railings and mooring bitts. I skipped drilling the mast holes out of nervousness because of a mistake I made early on. When started to build the hull framework I noticed the false keel was warped. I tried to straighten it by wetting and drying it under weight but to little avail. I had waited too long to start construction since I was recruited to work as a consultant for bioterrorism defense in Washington, DC. I was there for over two years and didn't start the model until I returned. Anyway, my attempts to reach AL to get a replacement keel were unsuccessful either by email or phone. They never answered my emails and I couldn't speak Spanish to the person that answered the phone. So, I started construction thinking that I could make adjustments to the keel warp as I went along. I was wrong. Now, I have the hull and decking built up to the point mentioned but there is a slight twist which may not be too noticeable but this another dimension that I must deal with when I drill for the masts. Any suggestions? Adrieke's procedure for checking the trueness of the false keel is something I will remember when I build another ship. This my first ship but I am almost 72 years old so I better get busy and finish the Endeavour before I go to the old folks home. Pete

Hi Rowand, Thanks for tips on bending. Using your dowel method is a great idea. I now have all the railings attached and most of the mooring posts. Next I need to drill the holes for the masts. Drilling them at the correct angle has me a little nervous. Rather than trying to hold the drill angled properly in the two directions I'm thing of making a drilling jig. What do you think about that? Pete

Hi Roland, I, too, am building the Endeavour as my first kit and I am at about the same place in construction as your photos show. Is your kit from Artesania Latina? If so, I found a few problems with the directions such as they refer to "top view diagram" which wasn't provided. All I see is a poor quality top view photo which is useless. I had to guess at the spacing of the ballisters which I now have installed. Next, I'm trying to figure out the best way to bend the railings to attach them. I thought of soaking them but I would like to know how do you plan to do that? Pete
