well . its been a long time since i put anything on the log , i started the build in october 2018, its now january 2023 and shes completed at last , obviously i havent been continually working on her but shes now in a display cabinet , really didnt like the stand that was in the kit so i made up something that looks similar to a dry dock platform , and im really happy with it

Yes I agree, the copper plates are from the caldercraft kit which is 1:72 as opposed to the billings which is 1:75. but ,saying that, the rivets/nail heads would be enormous scaled up, the same reason I haven't put nail head marks on the decks, I don't think they'd be visible at that scale. If you look closely there are quite a few more errors across the build but I won't mention those . the ships boat is part finished and just placed at the moment, I have to admit its not the correct one but it was the only one I could find at that scale , I am building another shipsw boat, slightly smaller, I'm not quite sure of the colour scheme for them so I need to research that Thanks Jeff

20220112_194627.mp4 At last she's ready to launch! Finally finished, there are are maybe a few little adjustments to make here and there but I'm quite pleased with my first attempt, I almost gave up on a few occasions but really chuffed with the outcome , ,all and every comment from you guys is welcome ,whether it's positive or negative, and thanks for your support during the build , it's very much appreciated

its been a while , again , but i havent given up on the build , i just havent had any time and didnt want to just do an hour here and there with large gaps of time in between , what with work, and other commitments etc , now that the nights are dark and cold again ive returned to the attic room where victory resides on the bench where i left her , probably 11 months ago , and , so onto the ratlines , i must admit i struggled to get going with these , but im almost there after about a month of trying different ways of making them look authentic , also i wouldnt recommend doing these after all the main rigging is on , very difficult to get to , hopefully i can get some photos up soon to show how they look , thanks again for your support , jeff

First build newbie, here so please be gentle lol, I've been building my hms victory for the past three years , and not doing too badly so far, ive done most of it , but I've come to point in the rigging which is frustrating me, so I thought I'd better try to get some advice from someone with a bit more experience , s so ,what is the best way to attach the ratlines so they look authentic without having to spend the rest of my life tying little knots while trying to keep the tension correct on the shrouds? Any ideas are more than welcome

ok i remembered how to upload photos so here are a few , please excuse the messy work bench , this is how i work lol i have made the gun carriages and fitted the lower ones, the lower staircases, werent part of the kit , there was just a square area , i didnt like that , i saw some pictures of the real ship and thought ive got to add them , the capstan is also my own addition , and the lower row of gun ports will be closed when the ship is completed , i dont think it needs all the cannons on show thanks for looking

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
