  1. VTHokiEE

    Greetings from Central FL, USA

    Thanks all!
  2. I have always wanted to build a wooden ship and (somewhat recently) I stumbled into this forum through r/modelmakers and am very glad to be here. I recently acquired the Midwest Chesapeake Flattie for my first build and now and in process of creating a work space. I can't wait to get started!
  3. This is only tangentially related, but I've been looking at eBay because I'm trying to find a NOS kit from Midwest. I did find the Chesapeake Flattie there (and am now trying to get a hobby space set up), but are there alternative places to shop for older kits?

About the NRG

If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model shipcraft.

The Nautical Research Guild puts on ship modeling seminars, yearly conferences, and juried competitions. We publish books on ship modeling techniques as well as our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, whose pages are full of articles by master ship modelers who show you how they build those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you what details to build.
