  7. Norfolk Sloop

    Built on Norfolk Island in 1798 she was the boat used by George Bass and Matthew Flinders to circumnavigate Tasmania proving it to be an island, thereby opening a shorter route to New South Wales through Bass Strait.
    She was stolen by escaped convicts and wrecked on Stockton Beach at Newcastle in November 1800.

    This model was based on a Kit by Modellers Shipyard. Norfolk Island Pine was used for the planking of the hull and deck. The sails were scratchbuilt.
