  1. At last I have finished the James Craig. Sorry for the big gap in my Photos but havn,t been the best lately.
  2. I started to build the James Craig about 3 years ago and lost interest, so packed it away and forgot all about it. That is until I discovered it in a big cardboard box in my shed. So out it came and back into building it. The model is a BIG one 2 metres in length. I plated the hull with sheets of copper to make it look like a steel plated hull, each strip was made to look as if it was riveted. James Craig was built in Sunderland England 1874. By the name of Clan Macleod. as a 3 masted steel hulled Barque. In 1900 was renamed the James Craig.
  3. At last I have finished the Berlin, after several weeks of been crook.
  4. I am waiting on some 3.5mm double blocks from England so I can finish the cannon rigging. So I am doing the rigging and assembling the masts. It looks a bit of a mess but will eventually start to look ok.
  5. Just about finished the hull planking etc, and have restored the forward decking. Can anyone assist me in the coiling of the rope for the cannons. Am using 0.025mm thread which is pretty thin.
  6. Finished the new hull planking,Also a couple of pics of the Berlin I think it is called a diorama. I built this a few years ago and found it in my trunk with a few other bits and pieces. Will have to have a good clean up and see what else I have put away.
  7. I applied a new deck using walnut strips that I found in my collection of timber. The hull was re planked and I removed a section of the forward top deck so I can mount the 2 front cannons etc, making it a lot easier.
  8. A friend of mine saw a person about to throw out a model of the Berlin into the garbage bin. He grabbed it and brought it around and gave it to me. It is in a pretty poor state but I am detirmend to rebuild it. I have been looking at a Berlin build by Ferit Kutlu. Have included a photo of my HMS Victory by Jotika. 4 years and just about finished, life boats and that's it. Will keep you all up to date as I slowly rebuild the Berlin. John Edwards
  9. I have been watching your building of the Berlin. A friend of mine saved a model of the Berlin that was about to be thrown into a garbage bin. It is in a bit of a mess but time and care I should be able to salvage it. I hope you don't mind if I follow your building of the berlin. The photos I had taken are to big so I will have to work out how to reduce them. John Edwards
  10. Can anyone help me with the application of rigging hooks on my HMS Victory. Got heaps of hooks in the kit but nothing on where they are suppose to go. Have searched all my plans 18 of them and read the books that came with the kit and still nothing. Or is it me just plain blind. John Edwards
