  3. Sorry im not very good at posting in my log, but here is my finished project - I had a lot of fun doing this model and enjoyed all the GREAT detail !! I am very happy with the results - I now have it in its display case and on display in our Condo lobby
  4. Here is the start of my latest project - I have just finished my Amerigo Vespucci by Amati - Very good kit and amazing finished results ! Just started the hull planking so am just getting underway - This is the Cutty Sark - 1/84 by Artesania Latino - This kit looks like the finest quality of any of the kits i've done - Very good quailty wood and tons and tons of very fine detail metal parts - I am very excited about this project !
  5. Fabulous build Tony This is a beutiful Ship - I completed the Gorsh Fock, by Occre about a year ago - I am just putting the finishing touches on Ameriogo Vesspucci by Mantua - like you said the assembly instructions leave a lot to the imagination
  6. Finally, I have another post - I have the hull completed and a lot of the deck fittings and I have the small fleet of rescue boats all done except for the finish painting - the masts are complete and are ready to rig !!
  7. Hi Dimitri Thanks for the great build - In one of your postings, you mentioned the length of the masts - by chance do you have the measurements of the masts from the deck to the top - I am finding the plans very confusing - any help would be appreciated Thanks Again Don
  8. Hi - I build this very same ship a couple of years ago - you mentioned lights - I got some mini LED lights and I installed them as I was building - It does add a nice touch to the model, being able to see all the interior decoration . Keep up the great work Don
  9. Hi fellow builder You are going to like the Oocre version - it is very high quality and lots and lots of detail. I put some mini led lights on the interior of mine, so you can see the detail on the inside of the cabins - wall paper, casino etc . Have fun - i will be following your build Don
  10. Another way to make wind filled sails is when you get the sails mounted on the arms and on the masts - take an electriv fan and blow it on the sails to make them billow out, and then spray a mixture of white glue and water on the sails while the fan is blowing, when the glue mixteur drys, it will leave the sails billowed out. Another way is to insert bendable wire in the edges of the sails when you sew them together - when they are mounted on the ship, you can bend the wire ti make the sails look billowed - Good Luck !!!!
  11. Here are a few more pics - these are when the ship is totally completed !
  12. I didn't paint below the water line because when I finished planking, I liked the look so much that I thought it a shame to cover it with paint ! I'm not totally happy with my sails, but they look just OK , so that is likely the way they will stay, unless, Someday I don't have a model on my bench, they might get changed.
  13. This is not really a build log as I have my Xebec completed waiting for its display case. These pics are pretty much the completed model !
  14. I just completed this very same ship - you are going to have a lot of fun with it - Very unique rigging and sail set !!!
  15. I am finding this kit to be of very good quality - the laser cuttings are very accurate - One thing I am having problems with are the English instructions - Very poor details and I wish there was a color instruction book like some of the other kits I have built, but it is just another challenge to overcome and we will get it done - This build is going to likely take a year to complete but it will be worth it, as it will be a very beautiful ship !
  16. Here is my Log for my Amerigo Vespucci - So far I have the super structure done and I'm ready to finish putting the decks on, and to fill in time as I wait for glue to dry, I am starting to build the Life Boats - this is quite small and challenging but fun to do - there are 11 of these small boats so there is lots to do . I have one small issue with the decks - The lower deck is a different shade than the 2 upper decks, as you can see in the photo - does anyone have any ideas as to how how I can get both decks the same shade - I dont want too use a dark stain as I like the look of a lighter color on this ship !
  17. Great job on your model - I am currently working on this same model - my kit came with prefinished decks - the upper and lower decks are a different shade - does anyone have any ideas how I can get the decks the same colour !!!!
  18. I recently started to build my Mantua Amerigo Vesuppi Scale 1:100 - Does anyone have any info on the colour scheme for this model - anything will help Thank you Don Jane
