  1. Ekis, As usual I like the way this is shaping up. What are you filling between the half timbers with, spackle? Kurt
  2. Ekis, Very, very nice. I can see where the staircase is going to take some work to build. But of course you’ve hired all the very best artisans from near and far to construct a house befitting a lord. Do you have any plans of giving the stone work some sort of subtle tonal washes to accent the various structural features when it’s completed? Kurt
  3. Ekis, Just teasing. The journey is still a pleasant one. Just don’t get the idea that you can slack off! For me history is not about dates and facts, but what an individual actually experienced at the time, comparing that with what I have experienced. In the end it’s much more the same than not. So get busy, and bring us to the next chapter. Remember you have a responsibility. 😁😁 Kurt
  4. Ekis, This must be a very satisfying journey, creating your village. You have really mastered this medium very well. It’s a pleasure to watch the progress, but it’s very hard to wait for the updates! The entire project has become a work of art. I have always loved dioramas ( which in a sense this is) because you have a much better connection to the subject than a stand alone model can bring. I can’t wait for the street level tour. Gotta get a GoPro. I would especially like to see the village during Advent or Christmastime. Being a creator comes with certain responsibilities, it’s not all fun and games! Kurt
  5. Ekis, Each building is better than the last one! The first one was pretty nice too. Kurt
  6. Ekis, Very nice and I’m sure much appreciated addition to the village! I forget, but does the village have a name yet? Also is there a barracks for the soldiers that man the wall? Kurt
  7. Ekis, Very nice. The roofing is very realistic. I particularly like the curved stairway too. What is your guess of the size of the population of the village? Kurt
  8. Ekis, Do you think that a number of buildings would completely change their purpose from the intended one over the years? I would think they did. Or maybe have a collapsed or fire damaged building, or for that matter a new one under construction. Just a thought. Kurt
  9. Ekis, Welcome back. You had some rest, now you have to make up for lost time! Kurt
  10. Ekis, I hope you had a good vacation. That is a great kit and you have done a wonderful job . There are so many interesting subjects to build in scale. It’s nice to not be completely locked into a particular genre, as there are so many more possibilities to explore. Very nice work. I also like the photo of the original. I would love to visit the area. Kurt
  11. Ekis, Enjoy your sojourn! I hope you have some great plans scheduled. Don’t worry, we’ll still be here waiting your return. Enjoy yourself! Kurt
  12. Ekis, I tried to respond to this about 3 hours ago on my IPad, typed it out hit send, and I don't know where it went because I lost my internet connection, so I'll try again. EG is entirely correct. You were entirely correct. The only place I've actually heard the Lord's house ( with a capital L ) mentioned was actually in church and was called that by the priest or pastor conducting the service. That's why the connotation immediately came to my mind. Also, I haven't met too many actual lords around where I live, definitely in my particular neighborhood. There are some gated communities though, which I'm not allowed into so maybe some live there. I'll never know. As far as the structure goes I guess around where I live it would probably be thought of as a noblemen's house (we don't have any of those either). I would normally think of it as a manor or mansion or an estate. Ordinary people live in a house, the gentry in something much grander. (( not that any of us is ordinary, especially you or me! (sarcasm) )). Again, none of this was a criticism in any way. Kurt
  13. It’s kind of humorous, in the US and I’m guessing Canada too, the Lord’s House would automatically infer a church. The L would be capitalized of course. There’s no misunderstanding your meaning though. This isn’t a criticism. Kurt
  14. I love the line drawings! I used to do some arcitectectural renderings ( actually modify them) when in college for an architect my best friend worked for. Naturally way before computers. I always admired how some people could make a pencil or pen create magic. My niece is extremely good at it. Actually is your own drawing done on computer? I actually had gotten Blender to try and teach myself but never went anywhere with it. Maybe I should look in to it again. Kurt
  15. Ekis, Once again this building appears to be the most interesting one of all. Based on your drawing of it, it would even be nice as a stand alone project, maybe in twice the scale of the village. That would be of course in addition to the present one. That would make a cool vignette. Just the buildings facade in a shadow box. I might try something like that. Not anywhere near as ambitious, but with a greater likely hood of completing it. You have got me thinking ( a very unusual occurrence to be sure.) Do you have any particular pictures of your inspiration to show us like you did with the oven? Looking forward to the next update. Regards, Kurt
  16. Ekis, I apologize to you. This was completely misconstrued. I was trying to be light hearted. Please disregard my post, I was not construing any negative intent. I was being flippant if that translates correctly. Regards, Kurt
  17. Does the lord have a good reputation and loved by all, or is he one with a more typical type? Kurt
  18. Ekis, The oven takes the prize so far for the most interesting building. The street level views really look great. So what is next to do? Are you bouncing around to different parts of the village to keep things “fresh”, or do you have a planned sequence? Have you surprised yourself yet by going in a completely different way than you had envisioned things? It sure looks like fun. Kurt
  19. Ekis, Take your time, it’s worth the wait on our part. The well, trough is a nice combination. I like that everything isn’t perpendicular. Much more natural looking. Any other specialty buildings that will be needed. Blacksmith’s maybe. Tavern? Kurt
  20. Ekis, The village is coming along very nicely. What is the purpose of the holes in the side walls? Kurt
  21. Egilman, I was just asking Ekis if he personally had. I have myself in the past. I personally like the two part epoxy putties. They can get expensive if that’s all you are using though. The reason I had asked is I was considering trying a to build a tower or keep and was trying to figure if there was enough in the kit to get by with. I didn’t ask my question correctly in retrospect. Kurt
  22. Ekis, I know you modify the size and I am assuming the shape of the kits building stones supplied? Have you ever found the need to make unique stone shapes from Sculpy, clay or epoxy putty to satisfy a special situation? I would think sometimes that could be easier than grinding or cutting a shape. I guess it might not be desirable though, since the real stones wouldn’t have been constructed that way. Kurt
  23. Ekis, This is a very interesting building. I have a question for you, if I may. You discuss the “removal” of the oven In the beginning of your post today. I don’t understand what you are referring to. Is it currently obstructing the building of the structure? Does it currently not appear as you had envisioned it should? It appears the same. I look forward to all your updates. Kurt
