  1. She's looking sharp and yes, boxwood is a wonderful wood to work with. As for painting? It's your choice. Some builders use little to no paint, others go all out. I'd wait until you have her planked and then decide.
  2. I'm sorry to hear of the stroke but happy to hear that recovery is going well, Keith. Wish I could offer more than prayers my friend.
  3. Love the stove and I'm stumped on how you drilled the holds for the bars... if you even did??? Hospitals are not fun so take care of yourself and follow the doctor's orders.
  4. Great to see you back, Mark. Health issues can really knock the wind out of our sails and I'm glad you're doing better. I hope things continue to improve.
  5. It's not that hard actually. Just go to the kit log area, pick the era for your model and click on it. At the top of that page are some pinned posts on "how to". Also, go here: https://modelshipworld.com/forum/47-how-to-use-the-msw-forum-no-modeling-content / And in the new member area, there's a lot of pinned posts that can help. Most builders just use photos as it's also easier to reference a photo if you have questions. While you're at it, do a post in the new member area as it's the best place to start.
  6. Feymoon, If you haven't done so, I suggest you open a build log for your model. It's a great way to get help and also meet other modelers.
  7. I find the ubiquitous X-acto knife with assorted blades works well. Assorted blades for different materials and functions.
  8. Welcome to MSW, Derrick. Feel free to start a build log as it's a great way to meet other builders and also get help when needed.
  9. Welcome to MSW. Chris is very much spot on. There are some specialty houses like the one he listed. but it's been awhile since I did any looking about for them. It would take some Googling to find them. Good luck on your quest.
  10. A fantastic model, Glen. Your miniatures are incredible an each new one is better than the last. I'm looking forward to whatever your next project will be.
  11. Welcome to MSW. I'm assuming this is a working steamer for say pond use? We've had very few of those but we have had pond ships (non steamers) and static steramers. I suggest you open a log in the scratch area as it's the appropriate place to let lus follow along.
