  3. Nice work on a nice looking schooner - look forward to following along.
  4. Wow - time has certainly flown by but now thrilled to have cleared the workbench for the Willie L. Bennett ! I continue to enjoy and learn from the beautiful builds here & thanks to all who have followed along and hope all are doing well ! Very early work on the A-frame - prior to further additions, cleaning, filing and blackening. Rod used to hold Iron block is tubing which is flattened and drilled at its end. Angled brass strips are used for the top bars & legs. Time to move towards getting the Willie L. Bennett out to sea, I mean ..on the shelf. 🙂 My first attempt at posting a pic via my phone versus my camera - we'll see how it works. Thrilled to add a progress pic and thanks for looking -

About the NRG

If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model shipcraft.

The Nautical Research Guild puts on ship modeling seminars, yearly conferences, and juried competitions. We publish books on ship modeling techniques as well as our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, whose pages are full of articles by master ship modelers who show you how they build those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you what details to build.
