  1. Only question is the scale 1:72. Is it based on the big original model? The model, which took three months to construct, weighed over 25 long tons (25 t), measured 65 feet (20 m) in diameter and 20 feet (6.1 m) high, and used compressed air hover pads for up to 1.5 inches (38 mm) of hover-height movement around the set
  2. Go with a good carpenter square or Lego blocks, I have been using both. Save your money not buying the slip. With the lego blocks you can clamp them as well. Welcome to ModelShipWorld!
  3. I would suggest to go with a regular small air compressor and an airbrush. The compressor will let you to adjust the pressure more easily. And to me it looks like one has to have a compressor to recharge the canister. So why buy such a unit?
  4. No issues at all in Southern WA, using Xfinity. Has been very speed lately.
  5. I think R/R shops has what your looking for. I remember when living in Spokane one the shops had such for scratch build buildings. Don't remember the manufacturer.
  6. Oh my, that's a small piece to put in the lathe. I know I would had screwed it up. You on the other hand, make it look so easy. Beautifully done.
  7. A true warm thank you creating these issues. In the very last one I found an article I really needed. It's about the Bofors 40 mm cannon. Need that one for a project. Thanks again
  8. Thierry, I am warmly welcoming you to MSW!
  9. Did my contribution to MSW, now time for NRG as well.
  10. There are multiple tutorial videos out there, personally I have found the AutoDesk F360 to be the best. Books tend to outdate rather quickly, due to software updates. Unfortunately, Lars left Autodesk to pursue another life.
  11. Try this website, yes they are focused on plastic model, but as for tools very handy for us as well. http://umm-usa.com/onlinestore/index.php?cPath=21
  12. Found this monofilament on Amazon available in black. Charlie Moore Signature Premium Monofilament Fishing Line, 10LB x 300YDS
  13. Wouldn't a monofilament be better and stiffer for our purpose. Btw, where did you find the line? I've been searching for 10lb but to no avail. Thank you
  14. It has... the surface will require very little after-work prior painting. But 16 days of effective printing that's a long time. However, I have seen even longer printing time, towards 80 hours.
  15. Printing first hull section of the Swedish destroyer J18 HMS Halland Scale 1:72 Length: 165cm or 5"5" Eight sections needed; each has a printing time of 48 hours.
  16. Steve, you are so right about this overlooked protection. But I think for our hobby that is an "over-kill". I am using a N95 surgical respirator mask here in the USA for protection of particles and dust. For painting with non-acrylic paint I do see a use for such. But that doesn't happen anymore.
  17. @ChrisLBren, Hi and I see you have done your homework. However, if you look at this link you will find a Rikon 1/2Hp for the same price as Jet. I tried out the Rikon 1/2 hp at a Woodcraft store and was impressed by it, even though I didn't buy it.
