  1. I'll try to post my work in progress of my RC Mariefred from Nordic Class Boats. It's a kit declared as Rc running. But it is not so. Forgive the mistakes in English, if you prefer, I speak in italian language, let me know... But important above all is picts and picts ands yours comments and suggestions! Good
  2. I got this from Ages of Sail. Great service, by the way. Ordered the ship and had it in a week, during Christmas shipping time. I sent them some emails with kit questions and received very prompt responses. I chose this because it is something a bit different and my CFO (wife) liked it, which helped convince her that the price is not do bad. This is a large, heavy box. Everything came well packed and packaged to minimized damage. The build diagrams are large, clear and well organized. There are, for all purpose, no written instructions. The only written page contains directions such as use wood glue for wood-to-wood joints and super glue for all others. The quality of the wood is top notch. All pipes/tubes, such as the smoke stack, are different metals. The prop shaft is brass, for example. There is very little plastic/plexiglass in the kit. Almost everything is white metal with very little flash. Below are some pictures. I will update as work progresses. This looks like a fun build and an interesting subject from a manufacturer that I have not seen previously.
  3. Welcome to my first build ever, The Schooner Vega. Here’s the packaging (slightly started, didn’t know about this forum). Laser cut plywood, I guess this is standard. All small fidly stuff that I fear. Time to start! Everything up to step #7 is complete. I’m struggling hard to understand how to plank, improve technique, where to fasten planks and all. Upcoming plans. I hope y’all stay to watch this project hopefully become finished. -Matt
  4. I have just finished my Mississippi Riverboat, and like all of us needed another project. After reviewing several build logs of non sailing ships I decided on this Nordic Class Boat. I just ordered it today so if your interested standby, and pull up a chair. Clarence
  5. Hello Ship model builders... I am Puckotred from Göteborg and this is my third model and the first without sails. A picture of the real thing: From Atlastmodels: (With some minor corrections from me) "The steamship S/S Bohuslän was built at Eriksbergs shipyard in Gothenburg 1913. For more than 40 years the traffic route of Bohuslän was between Göteborg- Lysekil-Smögen-Gravarne (Kungshamn) on the Swedish west coast. Later it was used as a ferry between Sweden and Denmark and between Sweden and Norway until it was taken off to be scrapped in 1963. A number of enthusiasts decided to rescue it and restored Bohuslän to its original condition and is still running it in the west coast archipelago in the summertime. " Build size: 95 x 16 x 40 cm. Made by Türkmodel on behalf of NCB – Nordic Class Boats So let's start with the unboxing: Presentation: Box: Lid off: Closeup of metal cast fittings etc: The other half. on the right are the davits (or "lifeboat hangers" as the instructions state them) made of "plexiglass". The stuff underneath: Curtains!!!!: Wire and aluminium foil(?!) for the funnel: "plexiglass" OK for the windows but the small sheet on top is for the winch and sunroofs. To be continued...
