Update

I`m asking myself if I am right in bringing in all these vents. Appr. the same amount as just placed in the area of the first two funnels will go into the area of 3rd and 4th funnel as well. Cross-checking over again many times with the overview drawing. confirms the number of vents and their individual sizes.......

I remember when I once researched the differences in detail for the Cunard twins "Mauretania" and "Lusitania" (as potential scratch build model), it was only the "Mauritania" that was comprising the traditional forest of vents, her "sister" had a different vent design

Nice forest, Nils. They do attract attention, that is certain, but it is good contrast with the other details. Besides, you can't leave them off. Your build wouldn't be up to date

Thanks for your comment Carl.

created by the vents, there is quite a lot of weight in brass into the model. Just take it as the era in which the vents did not  yet comprize  electric driven fans integrated in the vent lines....

If it is a matter of stability ... you could display her upside down ... not a nice alternative, unless she's fitted to the ceiling

good idea Carl,

I`ll think about that  :D

There was no forced air air conditioning in those days, so they needed all the vents, and if there were an electric fan all the better.

Thanks Bob,

for your kind input on this. It must have been quite stuffy under deck in hot tropical zones in windless calms, also for stokers and trimmers, deep down in the belly, especially when the ship for some reasons is not making much speed....

little update :

bringing all 4 funnels on to same rake and hight. All removeable funnels sit so fine and tightly in their sockets that the stays to go on later will be plain "cosmetic"

Thank you so much Jan, Denis, Michael and Albert,

for your nice words and compliments....

Jan,

yes you`re right, the unmistakeable silhouette is only given with the four stacks on..

Denis,

glad you like the progress...

Michael,

I must admit, I`ve been busy the last days, but the details have come together now. The 4 stacks will deach be fitted with ladders to the top, and the first one will get a 3-tone steam-horn on half the hight

G'day Nils

I must agree with all and say what you have done is bloody brilliant!

Your craftsmanship is shinning through with everything that you do.

Those funnels are breath taking with the amount of detail that you can do in such a small area.

Well done 👏 and havagooday my friend

David,

thank you for your nice comment, do you perhaps have a pic (sample) for "artist Range Murata" as I`m unfortunately not familiar with that one...
