Frustrations aside Greg, she is a little beauty and well worth you efforts.  Quite the miniature fleet you have started there :)

cheers

I somehow missed the conclusion of this build. Congratulations on another very fine model! I will be watching your build of Dreadnought with interest.

Cheers!

Started building the Emden and looking for information on her, and came across this site, so signed up, i know i have come late on the scene but got to add my praise to this build, just amazing detail you have put in it, and thanks for picking up the flaws with some of the aftermarket add on's.

As for the guns, i went for 3 d printed ones for mine, just waiting for them to arrive.

I'm a little late to the party but, Greg, absolutely stunning work.  That seems to be the norm for you.  You have true talent at building and detailing models.

OK, as promised, it's taken several hours, but my first attempt at the 10.5cm guns. I will make 4 on this pedestal to go below decks as you won't see the bottom bits. I think they will come up OK when painted 9compared to the kit ones) and put in at a later date. Now I know what to do i will be a fair bit quicker. Then there are four 5cm guns to fabricate. I will leave the above decks ones until I'm almost finished.

Splendid work on these guns!

What kind of tools did you use to fabricate them?

I recently bought this kit, and am disappointed by the poor mould quality (and the lack of pe replacements)

The kit PE is Eduard but you pretty much need double the sets. The guns were pretty much scratch build around a brass barrel for the guns and thinning out the shields but If I did it again I would use Micromaster 3D printed replacements for the guns.
