Bravo.  I wish I could have been there to see it in it's glory.  Have you decided on the case yet?

Thanks David. I have not decided on the case yet. Though, it's not done yet! I still have to finish and build the main and fore gaffs, as well as all the rigging for them. After that are the flags and I'm done. Thanks for stopping by!

Thank you Lawrence! I am currently waiting for my restock of rigging line that I ordered to arive. Until then I am having to have rigging on hold. I can still work on the fore gaff and the flags though! Take care, Lawrence :) .

Elijah - I had a case made for my gun station build. I'm blown away at how it looks under plexiglass. It starts looking like some sort of museum display. Every time I walk by it I stop, lean down and have a look inside.

My point being - get a case! It'll cost ya, but it adds a whole new dimension to the overall look.

You might check around your area for a plastics company. I found a local shop and had them make it.

As of 8:26 this morning my Phantom has been finished! :dancetl6: I have yet to get some photos of it, but when I do I will post them! Thank you all very much for following along with this build and giving me plenty of help and advice, as well as compliments and constructive criticism! I hope to see you all in my next build! I have not yet started a log because I still need to make a case and reorganize the workshop for the new boat.

Congratulations on completing your first build Elijah. You've done a great job and it seems you've learned a lot along the way too, which is what it's all about. I look forward to following your next build too.

Thank you all! I will start my next build as soon as I read through the in
structions a few times as well as Kurt's articles. I also need to rearrange my work area to better suit the new build. Anyway, here are the photos! I apologise for the unprofessional background.

Hi Elijah

For some strange reason, I've lost track of your wonderful build log...and that's saddened me.  My apologies!

On a far brighter note; my word, what a top job you've done on your ship.  She's got heaps of character and heaps of charm, all combined with a large dollop of 'wow'.

I'm really pleased to see the final result and I'm looking forward to following your next little beauty.

All the best!

Patrick

Elijah, your backdrop works just fine. In fact, it blocks out distractions and your closeups are excellent. Very nice work.

Elijah,

This is wonderful work, well done! Getting to the end of a wood ship project is a really good sign of things to come, whatever you do.

I love the lines on the boat but, after reading through your build, I did not see the designer's name. I may have missed that. Do you know who drew and built the original?

Best Regards,

Patrick, no worries. I'm sure you follow a number of builds, as do I. I can't even keep up with all of them most of the time :(

The gunboat log should start in a few weeks, but I'm not going to bet on it! I've learned a lot about the reliability of over optimistic  predictions :D.

Thanks Ken!

Thanks Rick! The boat was designed by Dennison Lawlor and was built in 1868 in New York.

You did a great job on this ship with many details.

I like the way you explain everything in the 'Show and Tell' session in our club meeting.

Elijah:

Great model - you can be proud of your first build.  If you bring the model to our next meeting I will take some photos of it for you using my set up here so you have a couple of good photos against a nice background.

On to the Philadelphia - you are going to enjoy this build.

Thanks Zoltan!

Pav, don't feel bad. I had a model I tried to do by mamoli which had terrible instructions. I didn't make it far and took up the Phantom instead. I'm sure you will finish one, just keep at it!

Thank you very much Kurt! I would love to have some pictures taken with your set up!

Congratulations on finishing your Phantom.  You did an excellent job on building this model.  You also accomplished what a lot of first time model ship builders never do and that is to finish your first ship model.  I am looking forward to following your Philadelphia build log.

Congrats Elijah, one down and many more to build.  As RC stated above, a major achievement in completing your first build, many lose patience or confidence in their skills.  Good luck with Philadelphia.

cheers
