Nice going Hennie and a great looking blow sprit.  What kind of lathe do you have?

First off all, thanks all for all the likes and all the kind words :) :)

And a small update:

I just finished the fore mast, just didnt glue it. That I will do when all the masts are finished.

Now -with the first mast in its place, I can imagen how tall she really is....HUUUUGE!

And I am quit satisfied how it looks. And dont think it went all smoothly at the first time. For instance, the fore topgallant mast broke 3x while using the lathe, :angry: :angry: :angry: and each time when I almost finished it. So I lost several hours of work but thats all part off the deal.  I had to go to the store to buy new raw wood.

She is tall! Nice work! I know that feeling when you work on a part, then it breaks, or flies away in my case.

Ah yes, all the do-overs is part of the deal but the final mast looks really very handsome.  Splendid work my friend.

@Piet

Thx Piet and you are right, only the end result counts ;)

@Sjors

Thx Sjors and yes, I did get some stock :)

And you know what was really funny. I bought raw wood in several sizes, but I could only get raw wood 14mm in the length of 270cm! When I got back to my car, there were standing some people in front of the car next to me. When I opened my trunk, one of them said:"That doesnt fit mate". I just put the raw wood against my knee, broke it in two peaces, throwed it in my trunk and said:"Now it does". You had to see his face! He must have thought that I was a complete idiot :D :D :D :D :D :D

And an upgrade again!

The moment I have been waiting for a long time! All the masts are in there place and I am very happy it showed up that they are in line (if I use the right words). So tomorrow I will start RIGGING :) :) :)

Reading all the advice Sjors got from you all, I will work as follows: First I will start doing some rigging on the Bow Sprit. Than I will start with the mizzen shrouds and mizzen lanyards, followed by the mizzen stay, snake and crowsfeet, than the same with the main and the foremast. When I finished that I will start with the shrouds and  lanyards of the mizzen top mast, main top mast and fore top mast. Than I will do the rest of the stays and I will finish with tying ratlines to the shrouds. I think working in this order the ropes will be less in my way.

Of course if someone has better ideas, pls let me know. I am always willing to learn ;) ;)

he's beginning to look like a ship Hennie with all three masts installed.  Smart, starting from the mizzen with your rigging plan.

@Bob @Sjors @Piet

Thank you all for your kind commends. I toke a couple of days to study all the drawings. I just started with these tackle pendants.

Btw Sjors, did you already solve the problems with your Aggy? When are you going to start rigging again?? I always used your pictures as an example and It will take me 1-2 month to get to the point where you are now, so come on and start again ;) ;)

Very nice Hennie !

I still have the problem that i need some brackets for the hammock netting.

I have to order a new sheet and that cost me about a hundred Euro's.

So that still has to wait.

But you are clever enough to know what to do with the rigging :-)

Very nice Hennie, you are making awesome progress. I've overcome my planking issues. Having viewed not a few other members builds, I decided that I was being too pernikity over my planking. Particularly as it was to be planked and coppered too. So two planks at a time it is slowly coming on. Looking forward to finishing the first planking and having it filled and rubbed down. The weather here is slowly getting better so when I'm at that stage, it should be summer and I can make all my mess outside!

@Sjors,

Thx for trusting me doing that rigging all by myself :D :D :D

But I still hope you will soon be able to restart the rigging of your Aggy.

@ETNZ,

You are wright about the planking. The looks of the first planking is not important, the second and partial third planking is. And a great part of the second planking has to be coppered.

Small update:

Tomorrow I will start with the shrouds of the mizzen mast....

I did some rigging at the Bow Sprit, some pictures....

Hi all, thx for all the likes! :) :) :)

Time again for an update. I finished the shrouds, stay and crowsfeet of the Mizzen Mast. Finishing the stay took the whole day!!

I had to redo the stay 4 times because I was not satisfied with the mouse and now I am :D :D :D .

I did the serving manual because I dont have such a nice machine like Sjors has :D :D I did that three times because the first and the second time it looked ugly.

I also had to redo the crowsfeet, but this time only once. I discovered that when I wanted to finish it, I had three holes left on the left side and only one on the right side :angry: :angry: :angry: :angry: . Stupid me. Next time better counting :D

It looks very nice Hennie!!!!

Only one question....the distance between the deadeyes, are they not to short??

i know they want 15 mm but that's so tiny for such a big ship.

@Sjors,

Thx Sjors,

About the deadeyes: I know what you mean, but I just did what they said: 12mm for the 3mm and 5mm deadeyes and 15mm for the 7mm deadeyes. And for the 7mm deadeyes I already took 18mm. I googled many building sides and discovered that it is just what you like most. I am quit satisfied, the way it looks now.
