Hi Denis.

You're absolutely right about the photos being confusing. All of the furnishings are removable at this stage; so some photos have them in, some have them out. I'm not going to glue anything in yet because there's still lots of painting and other work that needs to be done.

I'm glad you're enjoying Shadow's journey.

Have a great weekend!

Cheers

I was catching up with your log Patrick and I started thinking "where is the galley" and voila! last post answered this one

I loved the picture with all 5 decks in a row. I think the 4th one up is for me, having cocktails as the sun sets.

Lovely work, very nice!

Hi Vaddoc - lovely to hear from you!  If the '4th one up' refers to the Sun Deck, then I'm joining ya.  Cocktails after sunset sounds like a great idea.

Thanks again and I hope your family's going well.

  • 4 weeks later...

Hi folks!

I hope you're all well.  It's been a while since I last posted and some may think that I haven't done much.  In fact, I've done a fair bit to the owner's suite, bathroom, dressing rooms, toilets, etc, most of which are really hard to photograph.  I've also moved onto the fitting-out of the two tender garages on Shadow's Lower Deck.  To these garages, I've added an assortment of cabinetry in order to give them a semblance of realism.  I've also started on her two tenders.  They're tiny and well, pretty rough at this stage.  Clearly, a lot more refinement and detail needed to be added to make them marginally convincing, but hey, one has to start somewhere, don't they?

I hope you like what you see in these photos.

All the best!

Cheers

Patrick

Hey Frank

Many thanks.  The tenders are proving to be quite a challenge, but, hey, it wouldn't be worth it if they were easy, would they?

Have a great day/night.

Hi John

Many thanks for your comment.  I must admit that I keep forgetting how small Shadow is, i.e. until I look at the photos of the model next to one of my watches, or a mandarine, etc.

Yep, tiny, for sure, but heaps of fun.

Thanks for following along!

Have a great weekend....PS- I miss reading your 'adventure stories' of when you were working as Water Police Officer (I think).  Any more yarns to share????

Cheers

Jay is almost right. Instead of INCREDIBLE it should be IMPOSSIBLE.

I don't know how you can  do it!

What can i say that's not been said Patrick,

Brilliant work. The ships boats are so good at that scale. But then so is every part of this incredible build.

Looking through your log i like the picture of Shadow's shadow. Reminds me of a still from what i consider a great film, "The final countdown".  Your Shadow's shadow looks similar to the silhouette of the USS Nimitz as she moves through the time field.

Hi Greg

Thanks for your compliments. How do I do it?  My Dad always used to say that it's got nothing to do with 'patience', instead, one can do anything if they're really interested!

Well, that's my excuse anyway.

Have a good week.

Cheers

Hi Paul

Many thanks for your compliments and I'm pleased that you like Shadow's progress. She sure has been an absolutely joy to build and, what's more, I haven't had any major stuff-ups so far, either. Who would've thunk it?

Thanks also for liking Shadow's shadow. I'll check out that movie one day, too.

All the best.

Hi everyone

Many thanks for all of your comments and Likes.  Greatly appreciated as always!

Shadow has a third Tender, which is located right up in the forecastle.  As I didn't have any detailed plans as to what the tender looked like, I decided to base it on an actual jet powered tender (a Castoldi JT21) which I found on the Internet (http://www.castoldijet.it/en/jettenders_en/jt21_en.html).

The following photos show my attempt at building my version.  She's still pretty rough at this stage.  A lot more sanding and painting are required, but at least it's a start.

Also featured in the photos below are the rear garage doors (where Shadow's two larger tenders are located).  I chose to temporarily glue the doors in the opened position at this stage, in order to show the overall effect.

Still lots of fun to go, folks!

Cheers

Patrick
