US Brig Syren by David Rice - Model Shipways - Scale 1:64

Recommended Posts

My putty "Cheater Paste" was old and did not work well.  I have since bought some new.   I was going to paint the gun port area.  I am not happy with any of the colors I have been looking at.  Looking at the traditional Golden Oak Stain again. Laid a few planks, but haven't spent too much time at it.

I finally have one side planked and enclosed. Not the best job, but good enough for paint and copper sheathing.

It looks good to me.  Not worth going all out just to cover it up later with copper plates/tape.

The hull has been planked, now it's time to sand. I wonder if I could "subcontract" this part out?

Yes, I hurt my finger. I always seem to end up giving blood for the cause.......

  • 2 months later...

Now that winter is approaching I have more time for building.  I finished the Top Rails, and did some painting. I will soon start the deck work.  I haven't made any Tree Nails yet. I am still unsure which way I will go.
