Hmm, I can see the pictures, and she is looking great.  Ok, there is one duplicate "silkspan drying" post that has no pictures, but otherwise they are there.  Looking forward to how you do the furled sails with the silkspan.

 

And by the way, the holes in the top mast that you have the question about....I checked the plans for the bluejacket kit and it does not have those holes, so sorry, no help there.

I know our kit does not show this. In general, sheaves were put in topmasts so a line could run from the mastcap thru the sheave and back up to a block on the mastcap. This line would let you lift the topmast so you could take out the fid and hence lower the topmast.

Hi Kevin, I’ve enjoyed your videos and am following your log. I had a question about The Royal Navy series by Clowes near your workbench. Realizing this series dates back a 100 years or so, do you find this is a helpful resource for the modeller of period ships or is it more for the historian that lives within all of us?  Your thoughts are appreciated.  Scott
