Kevin, nice little ship's boat.  What are your plans for it?

The bluejacket kit does not have any provision for boats, though the plans indicate that they were likely removed for racing, could be hung outboard from removable davits midships, or lashed to the deck midships.   I've messed around with trying to make a couple little boats, thinking I may put one or two on the deck or hung from davits, but have not decided yet.

Oh, and by the way, the main model is looking fantastic with those sails.

This is my first real attempt to make lifeboats. I am struggling but plan to make a few more until I get it down pat. Follow  this I’ll make a video on it . I am using lead boats supplied with the  Bellona as the mold. It’s not perfect but it will get there.

The sail ail did not come out to bad. On the scratch build model I will use silk span and fold them.

Last of the deck furniture. I decided to add this front hatch as it is shown in some of the plan drawings. In a racing boat this would be an essential access point for changing sails on the front deck. In this version of the America I also changed the middle grate for another hatch which would also allow better access. Grates would have been useful in boats envolved in carrying freight. This boat was designed primarally as a racing boat.
