1884 Sequin Tug's mascot color?

Recommended Posts

Trying to find what color the mascot of the 1884 Sequin Tug was. It's a large rooster that was on top of the Pilot House. Need to know what color or colors it was threw the long life of the tug. I am finishing up the Bluejacket kit of it,and am at the point of finishing it up,and the last thing to paint is the rooster.

Not sure about the Sequin herself, but in general, these types of late 19th c ornaments were either painted with gilt or in natural, lifelike colors.  Consider searching the internet for Americana or folk art, which might bring up sites that deal in these types of things - cigar store statues, pilot house eagles, etc - for reference.
