Question from a Newbie

Recommended Posts

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I have a question about planking hulls. I have seen some builds that use one

long plank strip ("strake" I believe). Then I have seen some that use butt joints

with shorter planks connecting at a bulkhead.

Also, I remember reading somewhere that the longest planks were a maximum

of 25 feet on the real ships.

I am not sure which way to go???

Help !

Ruben

The super long strakes are usually kits.  The bulkheads are usually too far apart for doing scale lengths on the decks and usually also the hulls.  The 25 or so (varied by country and available wood) would be scale.  Thus, it's your choice.
