Bismarck by Semorebutts - FINISHED - Trumpeter - 1/200 scale - with MK1 detail set

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I basically did all I can do on the Arados before painting ( i need paint) Theres this huge hobby store 30 min away from me(hobby emporium) that im going to visit. It does not open till noon. That means I won’t be airbrushing today.

Heres what I did so far.

Assembled the 2 cockpits and canopies.

assembled what plastics I could.

But then I changed my mind. Instead of having both planes with wings folded I’m going to have one with wings out.  I have already cut the wings so I had to glue them back together  on one of the planes.

thats it for now. Oh I know what I can do  while I wait for the store to open.   Paint and assemble the new radar to replace the one that broke 4 months ago.  I guess i will be airbrushing today 😀

I started to bounce around. I cut out and folded the stairways.  And some life rings to possibly go ontop of the launches.

Truly a build to be proud of. I really enjoyed following along and looked forward to the next installment. I will probably now be going through withdrawal!:(

but all I have is my stupid iphone se camera and it sucks ☹️

It's been doing well enough to get a bunch of oohs and aahs from everyone who has been looking in! Just another example of how good your model is. It stands proud even when using a poor camera!

Great look.

Question though. If you had only put the foil on one half of the flag decal and folded the other side onto the back side of the foil would it have been too thin to hold the wave shape after molding?

The flag looks great.  The foil trick blew me away as the only way I've ever done flags is to fold, put onto a piece of "shaped" (for lack of a better word) foil and then paint profusely several times with 50/50 mix of white glue and water.

Thanks semore

Mark

Do you think that coating with glue/water softens the flag enough so that it is not as stiff as semore's method of folding the dry flag over the glue/foil?
